Sound of Mind is Sound of Body
It is true that some great men had been keeping bad health, but a good, healthy body is necessary for any one who wants to do hard work. Without a healthy body, it is very difficult to expect one’s mind to do any work. If the body is sickly, the mind will refuse to work. A sound mind goes usually with a sound body. Of course, this does not mean that every one who has developed his body would have an intelligent mind too, but on the other hand an intelligent mind will lose its strength if the body is weak and sickly.
What should be done to keep the body in sound condition? Exercise and good food are the first requirement. It is necessary to observe common rules of hygiene and good health. Daily exercise in some form or the other is also essential for keeping the body fit. Taking part in some kind of sports will develop the body as well as cultivate the mind. The mind receives training in course of sports and the bodily frame is built up. Sports therefore are an excellent means of keeping the body fit.
For the health of the mind it is necessary that the body should be kept healthy. We expect to find a sound mind in a sound body.
